Throughout my three years as a student nurse and nine as a qualified children’s nurse, I have received incredible support and encouragement from mentors, lecturers and colleagues. Although male children’s nurses may be considered a rare breed, the numbers are gradually increasing in my experience.

I work with a number of other male children’s nurses who are a valued a respected part of the child health team. They possess great experience and knowledge. I would encourage any man interested in becoming a children’s nurse to go for it. I believe they would be lucky enough to have the same experiences I have had in my career with patients, families and colleagues.
