Postgraduate Research at Keele

Keele has been ranked among the UK Top 10 universities for the research opportunities offered to postgraduate students (PRES, 2019). Postgraduate students are central to our learning community, and we can guarantee a warm welcoming community and campus life. We also offer a number of distance learning opportunities where we extend our warm welcome and strong ethos of quality supervision, research training and digital modes of working to students off campus.

Studentships

Keele University studentships, when available, are funded internally or from external sponsors such as research councils or from industry. If you are interested in any of the studentships available you can apply online.

Distance learning

Distance learning research degrees enable you to benefit from our excellent reputation for research opportunities and high-quality supervision whilst studying remotely.

Professional Doctorates

Professional doctorate programmes are increasingly the choice of professionals in a number of fields, particularly health and education. Keele provides rigorous, structured programmes of advanced study and research, equivalent in status to a PhD but usually taken on a part-time basis and reflecting professionally focused contexts.

Doctoral training centres

A large proportion of UK Research Council funding for postgraduate research studentships (PGRs) is now awarded to institutions via Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) and Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs). These are flagship doctoral training programmes which combine cutting-edge doctoral study with a dynamic, innovative and interdisciplinary research culture that aims to develop future research leaders.
