Four weeks to go
The first thing you'll need as a Keele student is access to your Keele IT account. Following the release of A-level results or your place being confirmed, we'll send you an email containing all the information you'll need to access your account.
You'll also receive an email explaining the steps to complete your enrolment:
Home student? You'll be asked to upload some ID to verify your identity, answer some questions about your personal details, and submit an image for your Keele Card. It’s important that you complete all the steps of enrolment to be registered as a student at Keele, so you can access your course and receive your student finance funding, if applicable.
Overseas student? You'll be asked to upload documents relating to your identity and ability to study at Keele, answer some questions about your personal details, and submit an image for your Keele Card. Your enrolment will be completed in person once you arrive on campus.
For more information and further instructions, please visit our ID and enrolment web page.
Start your online induction module on the Keele Learning Environment.
You can find more information on our induction module web page.
If you'll be living on campus, please ensure that you've completed your online accommodation induction. This is a very important step and will explain important information about living on campus.
You should make sure that you have your Accommodation Key Collection Pass ready (which will become available once you've completed your online accommodation induction), and that you've booked your arrival slot.
If you'll be living off campus, make sure that you've discussed your plans for moving into your off-campus accommodation with your private student accommodation or landlord.
If you'll be living on campus or moving into the local area, you should ensure that your accommodation is confirmed with either the University, private student accommodation, or private landlord.
If you'd like to order items before you arrive, you can kit yourself out through our friends at either Chaffinch or UniKitOut. Order by midnight on Friday 9 January to guarantee pre-arrival delivery to campus.
You can order bedding, kitchen or bathroom kits and more, plus save 10% with discount code KEELE10 if you decide to order anything through UniKitOut - or there's free delivery with discount code Keele2015 if you order from Chaffinch.
As Keele will be your home away from home, our friendly Residence Life team will help you to settle in.
Once you've got access to your Keele IT account, you'll be able to select your option or Global Challenge Pathway modules (if these are required as part of your undergraduate degree course). Please note that you won't need to have completed your ID check before you can do this.
You won't need to do this if you are studying a postgraduate course, Medicine, Veterinary, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work or a Foundation Year.
For more information on how to choose your modules, please visit our choosing your modules web page.
Undergraduate and postgraduate-taught students are able to apply for a parking permit if they need to regularly bring a car onto campus. Alternatively, use one of our hundreds of hourly pay-to-park spaces - or travel to campus using local bus services.
Disability Support and Inclusion
If you have a disability, including specific learning difficulties or mental health and wellbeing issues, our Disability Support and Inclusion team can advise on a wide range of support to meet your individual needs. It's a good idea to contact the team before you arrive at Keele to discuss any support you may need and to ensure any necessary adjustments can be put in place before you begin your studies.
Counselling and Mental Health support
University is often a great experience, but it can also bring with it stress and challenges. Our Counselling and Mental Health service can offer you one-to-one support and appointments, as well as workshops and group work. All students can also access Spectrum.Life - a free, confidential helpline available 24/7.
Peer support schemes
We understand that students often want to get advice from other students where possible. Rest assured that Keele has a diverse range of peer support schemes which you may be interested in.
Student Services
If you feel that you'll need additional support when you start your studies at Keele but you're not sure who to speak to, please get in touch with Student Services at student.services@keele.ac.uk.
We have set up a Facebook group to enable you to meet other new students and build connections before you come to campus. This official group is your opportunity to meet future flatmates, course mates, gym buddies, study buddies, and everything in between!
We'll also post updates in the group about events happening during Welcome Week and beyond, so make sure you join today! Here's the link >
If you haven't already, submit your application to Student Finance and remember to regularly check your Student Finance portal for updates and tasks.
If you're an international student, you'll receive an email to begin your enrolment process. Please complete this as soon as possible. There are also some additional things you will need to do:
- Attend the pre-departure briefing to help you prepare for your visa application and arrival
- Check to see if you require a TB test certificate
- Apply for your ATAS certificate (if stated on your CAS and confirmation checklist)
- Check you have the correct level of finance
- Apply for your Entry Clearance / Visa Extension
- Book your flight to the UK
We also offer new international students a free airport transfer Meet & Greet service to campus. More information about this can be found here.
