Woodland Nature Trail

Stop A

Point-A

Giant Redwood - treecreeper roosting The photograph is looking towards the start of the walk. On the right of the path is a large Giant Redwood Sequoiadendron giganteum. It has a characteristic soft fibrous bark designed to withstand the fires of its native home in California. The soft bark is used by Treecreepers that excavate their night-time roosting holes.

On the opposite side of the path is a Swamp Cypress Taxodium distichum, a native to the southern United States - Delaware to Texas and along the Mississippi.
