To the left of the Library is a Red Horse-chestnut Aesculus x carnea.
This is a fertile hybrid between the Horse-chestnut A. hippocastanum and the Red Buck-eye A. pavia. It is commonly planted in parks and gardens.
Behind it is a donated Foxglove tree Paulownia tomentosa and a Monkey-puzzle Araucaria araucaria.
