FYO-00193 - Foundations of Geography, Geology and the Environment
Foundations of Geography, Geology and the Environment (15 credits)
This module is part of the preparation for students progressing to degree programmes in Geography, Geology or the Environment, or who are simply curious about how the Earth works. Assuming a varied knowledge base, and providing a platform for more detailed study in semester two, students completing this module will be able to explain both the operation, interconnectedness and outcomes of a number of natural systems taking place underground and on the Earth’s surface, within the geological past, present and future. No journey will ever be the same again as the world around you is revealed in technicolour dynamism. The module sits alongside a variant of the science skills module which will provide opportunities to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom to the observation and assessment of a number of the processes in an outdoor laboratory.
