Kate joined the Foundation Year team in September 2017 as a Teaching Fellow in Psychology. She has over 10 years of teaching experience at level 3, including A level and Access to HE. Kate has had an interest in psychology since studying it at A level at City of Stoke-on-Trent 6th Form College. She continued studying psychology at the University of Wales, Bangor, where she gained her B.A (Hons) in Psychology at a 2:1. Kate then travelled to America where she completed her MA in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City.
Prior to Training as a teacher in 2007 Kate worked as a prison drug worker and Arrest Referral Worker with the Police. In 2002, she started to work as a Connexions PA with additional needs students in several schools. Kate’s teaching experience took her Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College where she taught Psychology and Sociology for 4 years before taking on the role as Team Leader for Access to HE Health and Access to HE social Science at Stoke-on-Trent College. Kate left the College in 2016, returning for an academic year to teach A level psychology at Alsager High School before joining the Foundation Year team at Keele University.
