Alternative qualifications accepted for 2020 entry to Medicine with the Health Foundation Year

BTEC Qualifications

Level 3 Extended Diploma or National Diploma

Five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) including GCSE Maths and English language at a minimum of grade 4 (C)

Level 3 Diploma or BTEC National Certificate

DD

Accepted with one A level grade A*

Or D*D with one A Level at grade A

Any subject

A level must not include Chemistry or a subject covered by the BTEC

BTEC National Award or Subsidiary Diploma

Accepted with two A levels grade A*A or D* and two A Levels grade AA

Any subject

A levels must not include Chemistry, biology in combination with another science, or a subject covered by the BTEC

Access to HE Diploma

All modules must be at Distinction grades or marks of at least 70%
60 credits  a minimum of 45 credits with distinction at Level 3 and another 15 credits passed at a minimum of level 2

Science or non-science accepted

GCSE Maths and English language at a minimum of grade 4 (C)

Level 2 equivalents are not accepted

Honours Degree

1st or 2.1 classification and A level grades BBB or above.

International/EU candidates

 

Candidates whose first language is not English will need IELTS 7.0 with 7.0 in all subtests.  IGCSE grade B may be accepted if the speaking and listening element has been taken.

International Baccalaureate

Minimum of 35 points including Highers 6,6,6 and Standard levels 6,6,5

Chemistry at Higher Level/Standard Level is not accepted

English language grade 6 is accepted in lieu of GCSE English
