Biography
Kyra is a Research Technician at the Galizi lab where she supports ACEME scientists as they work towards their goal of expanding molecular engineering capacity in Africa to control malaria, focusing on developing CRISPR technologies to better target Anopheles gambiae mosquitos. She studied Marine and Freshwater Biology at the University of Glasgow where she obtained a first-class honours BSc degree. She also published a graphic novel, Dear ETC., a family piece set during the Lebanese civil war of the 70s and 80s. Outside of the transgenics-screening and mosquito-rearing, Kyra enjoys life as a dabbler, attempting to communicate scientific concepts through sculptural and traditional artistic means, and can otherwise be found with her flute or guitar, or as a cryptid in the woods.
