Biography
David works as a Lecturer in Bioengineering in the School of Life Sciences. He graduated in Materials Engineering at the University of Seville, Spain, in 2013. There he cultivated a special interest in magnetic materials and magnetic instrument development while working in Prof Victorino Franco’s group.
Later, David moved to Madrid, Spain, to complete his Masters and PhD studies in Condensed Matter Physics, Nanoscience and Biophysics at the Research Institute IMDEA Nanociencia. During this time, he started his transition from the field of material engineering to the multidisciplinary world of nanomedicine working in the group of Professor Francisco Terán. There, he mainly focused in developing advanced tailored instrumentation for characterising exotic properties of magnetic nanoparticles for cancer treatment.
In 2018, David moved to Keele University as a Postdoctoral Research Associate joining Dr Alan Harper´s group for the aim of developing a magnetic nanoparticle-based therapy to improve current stroke treatments.
In 2020, David was awarded a prestigious Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellowship and continues his research in cardiovascular nanomedicine at Keele University.
In 2024, he was appointed Lecturer in Bioengineering.
