Covid-19 Restrictions

The Health Library sevice will be operating under Covid-19 restrictions. Services will mainly be delivered remotely but also include those listed below. Please check back for the latest information before you visit.

Keeping Safe

Social distancing measures are in place and risk assessments completed. Hand sanitiser and wipes are available, and surfaces will be cleaned regularly. In accordance with government rules, from 8th August all visitors must wear a face covering when visiting the library. Please follow all health and safety guidance as displayed. We aim to operate a Covid secure environment

Click and Collect Service

The library is offering a click and collect service to allow you to take out books. This is available Monday to Friday and is by appointment only.

To book a click and collect slot:

  1. Find your books - Search on the catalogue Library Search for the books that you want. Make sure that the title is available at either the Health Library or Health Library at County (formerly LERC).
  2. Make a request - Send an email to the Health Library account including the following details: your name, library card number, details of the books required and a contact phone number.
  3. Receive your pick-up slot - You will be contacted to arrange a pick-up day / time.
  4. Collect your books - Follow the instructions to gain access to pick up your items. Please try to be prompt.


You can return items at the self-service station if you are also coming to collect. Otherwise please return items to the Book Box located in the porch of the side entrance to the CEC - opposite the bridge. The Book Box is available Monday to Friday during CEC opening times.


Requests via Library Search are suspended

Library Membership

You can join the library by following the instructions on our Join page. Collection of membership cards is available via appointment. Please email the library to arrange a time to pick up your card.

Study Areas

These will not be available.

IT Suite, NHS PCs and Photocopiers

A limited number of NHS PCs are available to book. You can book a slot for Monday to Friday, between 9:00am and 4:00pm. Slots are available for 30 minutes upto 2 hours. Black and white printing will be available via the NHS network. You will need your NHS login in order to use these PCs. To request a slot please email the Health Library, providing your preferred date/time, your NHS email address, your name and library card number. A booking is made via confirmation from the Health Library.

The IT suite, containing Keele networked PCs, and photocipiers will not be available.

Inter-Library Loan Requests

There is some disruption to the Inter-Library Loan Service. Please submit any requests via the online form and we will deal with them if possible.

Although we are trying to supply an ILL service some of our source libraries are not available and this means it is taking longer to source items and fulfill requests. To help us please do not submit more than 5 requests, and do not submit further requests until your previous requests have been fulfilled or resolved.
