Prior to travel - COVID 19

Travel insurance

The University has a Travel Policy in place with the AIG UK LTD which automatically covers any member of staff for trips made home or abroad whilst on University Business.

Prior to travelling abroad, you must ensure that you have the required permission from a budget holder/manager/school point of view. All travel bookings/accommodation etc. must now be booked using Key Travel (see this webpage for details).

Making a claim

All claims must be made directly to AIG unless advised by either AIG or the Insurance Office

Claim forms:

All claims should be notified to Alan Slater, Accounts Payable & Insurance Office, Finance Department.

Risk assessment

Also, before travelling the destination must be risk assessed.  A risk assessment form must be completed enclosing a draft intinerary of your trip with dates, flight details and accommodation details. These documents must be with Finance before travel.

**Please ensure you take a copy of the insurance policy, policy number, name of insured and a copy of the emergency assistance card when travelling abroad. We would also recommend copies of the insurance details and emergency helpline contact details are left with your next of kin should contact need to be made with the insurers on your behalf.**
