Keele University has been named as one of the Top 35 universities in Europe for its social and economic impact in the 2020 Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings.
Keele was also ranked Top 20 in the UK and Top 75 in the world. The Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings is a pioneering initiative to recognise universities across the world for their social and economic impact, based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Keele scored exceptionally well across the league table, ranking Top 25 in Europe and Top 50 globally for three of the United Nations’ SDGs including, Good Health and Wellbeing, Affordable and Clean Energy, and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, which demonstrates Keele’s commitment through its teaching, research and knowledge transfer, as well as internal practices, policies and procedures.
Professor Mark Ormerod, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Provost at Keele University, said: "We're delighted to be ranked in the global Top 75 of the Times Higher Education Global Impact League Table for the second successive year. The table recognises universities across the world for their social and economic impact based on the United Nations' SDGs and our position in the global Top 75 and Top 10% of all ranked institutions, and to be ranked in the Top 50 globally for three of the five SDG we participated in, reflects our very strong institutional commitment to and sector-leading position for sustainability across all aspects of our activities and operations, including our campus and community.”
