FYO-00211 - Foundations in Numerical and Quantitative Methods for Scientists

Foundations in Numerical and Quantitative Methods for Scientists (15 credits)

This module will develop your understanding of the fundamental mathematical techniques and methods used across science-related programmes.

You will achieve this by developing a knowledge of the most commonly used mathematical techniques in applied sciences. You will assess your understanding and skill in use of these techniques by applying them to set problems that will also relate to the area of science you are studying.

Should you require extra or further explanation of the key methods being used you can access built-in tutorial support.

Successful completion of the module will mean that you acquire the skills to apply mathematical techniques to help solve science-based problems. These skills will also be developed in a group context; working with fellow students will give you the opportunity to develop collaborative skills. This module equips you with some of the necessary mathematical skills to support your on-going study in a science-related degree programme.
