FYO-00229 - Advancing Mathematical Methods

Advancing Mathematical Methods (30 credits)

This module continues to develop your understanding of the key mathematical techniques and methods used across a wide range of applied mathematics, as well in other areas of pure mathematics.

Working in classroom-based sessions, you will achieve this by developing a knowledge of the mathematical techniques required for more complex problems. You will assess your understanding of these techniques and skills by applying them to set problems of a more complex nature.

Successful completion of the module will mean that you acquire the skills to apply mathematical techniques to help solve problems. These skills will also be developed in a group context; working with fellow students will give you the opportunity to develop the collaborative skills desirable to research and many fields of employment. This module equips you with some of the necessary mathematical skills to support your on-going study in either Single or Combined Honours in Mathematics or Physics.
