FYO-00199 - Advancing Life Sciences

Advancing Life Sciences (30 credits)

How does an organism respond to threats, both internal and external? What can they do to protect themselves? What if the source of harm is another organism? This module builds on the Foundations of Life Sciences module by looking at biological structures at different levels of organisation and how they can be influenced by internal and external sources. You will see how threats can be identified, managed or eliminated, both in theory and in hands-on practicals. You will also learn about some of the latest techniques used to study disease. The material explored in this module has direct links to the life sciences degree programmes and will prepare you for degree-level study in these disciplines.
