FYO-00195 - Advancing Geography, Geology and the Environment
Advancing Geography, Geology and the Environment (30 credits)
Building on the knowledge and concepts of the 'Foundations in Geography, Geology and Environment' (GGE) module, a number of real-world applications will be presented. If we are going to solve any of the ‘Grand Challenges' facing our present and future societies, the creativity and expertise from the full range of GGE disciplines will be required. Students completing this module will be confident to enter into dialogue with a wide variety of potential stakeholders covering geological, economic, environmental and sociological factors in the global arena, and in particular, as they relate to the global climate crisis, the management of natural hazards, and the management of sources and resources for energy, manufacturing and construction materials. The students will also have the opportunity to consider different GGE career pathways, and explore what a GGE professional might be doing Monday to Friday (and sometimes even at weekends), following graduation.
