Academic and Professional Development for Health (30 credits)

This two-semester module provides the opportunity for prospective healthcare students to explore and understand their future interactions with the public through the varying activities that they will experience in their lives during the Health Foundation Year. It concentrates on a range of academic skills and personal attributes. Students will reflect on their interpersonal skills and show how these may benefit their personal development related to the field of healthcare.

This module is to enhance students skills in academic and professional development, including inter-professional education, learning and study skills; identifying individual strengths and weaknesses as a learner; developing key skills within team-based working, e.g. collaboration, problem-solving, decision making, time management and priority setting; developing verbal, listening, written and physical communication skills in a range of styles within various settings, e.g. academic, professional; learn, developing and applying the skills necessary of a reflective practitioner and engage with, and apply, any relevant professional standards within future fields of study and professions.
