Foundations of Social Sciences 1 (15 credits)

This module will introduce students to the ‘backbone’ of Social Science inquiry and tackle the concepts of Social Inclusion and Social Exclusion. Why might particular individuals or groups be unable to participate in society?... How might society prevent such individuals or groups from taking part? …What strategies or policies are in place to promote their inclusion? In order to answer these questions, this module will tackle topics such as Stigma, Wealth, Poverty and Gender Inequality. By the end of this module students will have a foundational understanding of how stigma and exclusion are used as political tools to keep people down.
