Biography
First Class BSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy Principles and Practices; Distinction MRes (Psychology); current PhD candidate. Several years’ practitioner experience in domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health and child safeguarding. Expertise in critical theory (feminist and intersectional lens). Teaches undergraduate topics including complex trauma, post-traumatic growth, grief and loss, CFT, sexual and gender identities, and ethical practices. Qualitative researcher (Reflexive Thematic Analysis and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis). Motivation: further develop as a researcher and pursue research/teaching career.
Research and scholarship
Youth with incarcerated mothers: understanding the child impact assessment. Aims: (i) systematically review the topic; (ii) address gaps. Focuses on the Child Impact Assessment (CIA) as the first UK tool seeking to represent children’s viewpoints in pre-sentencing reports, and implications for mothers and children affected by the justice system.
