Biography

Charlotte trained at Keele in 1998-2001. She began her nursing career in Oncology and moved to Primary Care as a GPN in 2008. She spent four years as a Primary Care Development Nurse in the local CCG alongside a clinical role. Twelve months of which involved a Project Management role for NSHE implementing the Care Navigation model across the GP practices of North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Research and scholarship

Charlotte is a founder member of the GPN Evidence-Based Practice Group led by Dr Andrew Finney for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICS, working predominantly with primary care nurses to question and appraise ‘best evidence’ in their general practice roles (Finney et al, 2016). This group has received yearly funding since 2015.

Teaching

She joined Keele in 2019 as a Teaching Fellow supporting the FdSc Nursing Associate Apprentice programme in clinical skills. In May 2020 she moved into the preregistration nursing BSC programme, where she was the module lead for ‘The role of the nurse in promoting health and wellness.’

In April 2022 Charlotte became the Award lead for FdSc Nursing Associate Apprentice programme.

In August 2022 she became pathway lead for the Fundamentals in General Practice Nursing.

Collaborations and grants awards

In 2021-22-she was seconded to the Impact Accelerator Unit (IAU) where she provided a primary care nursing perspective. She is now a co-applicant of a research study due to commence in June 23 relating to, Improving access to cervical screening for physically disabled people.
