Library resource spotlight: Current Contents Connect

Introducing this month’s resource – Current Contents Connect!

Current Contents Connect is a current awareness database that provides access to complete tables of contents, abstracts, bibliographic information, and abstracts from the most recently published issues of leading scholarly journals and evaluated websites.

There are a variety of ways that users can search the database including browsing journals alphabetically within subject areas, a fielded search where users can filter their search by topic, title, author, year published, language, document type and much more, as well as a query builder where users can return more relevant search results by using the query builder to construct a precise and exact search.

Users can refine their search results by utilising the filters to streamline the search results, including by publication years, document types, affiliations, languages, disciplines, and much more. The database also has a functionality that allows users to find alternative lists of records that they might find interesting based on the results of their search, which can help users to discover other relevant records. Users can also send and share their search queries to others by using the copy query link functionality.

There's also the ability to analyse search results to group and rank records by extracting data values from a variety of fields, such as finding the most prevalent authors in a particular field of study by ranking records by count based on the search query. This can be visualised either as a Bar Chart or Tree Map that can be downloaded as a JPG file, whilst users can also download the analysis data table too.
