National Year of Reading: Staff Favourites - Tracey
As you may already be aware, 2026 is the National Year of Reading!
The National Year of Reading is a UK-wide campaign designed to help more people rediscover the joy of reading. As a library, it only felt right to celebrate by asking some of our lovely staff to share their favourite books or magazines and why they love them.
Tracey, who works at the Campus Library, has chosen the Miss Benson's Beetle by Rachel Joyce as her favourite. She explains:
“Miss Benson leads a lonely, secluded life. A gold beetle that has never been found is what she has been thinking about for years and wants to find. She seeks an assistant and the unlikely candidate ends up being one she had not chosen. This oddball pair embark on a journey to chase her dream. It is quirky, has humour and heartbreak and I couldn't stop reading. I laughed out loud at times and choked up at others. I would recommend this as a good read.”
