National Year of Reading: Staff Favourites - Gina
As you may already be aware, 2026 is the National Year of Reading!
The National Year of Reading is a UK-wide campaign designed to help more people rediscover the joy of reading. As a library, it only felt right to celebrate by asking some of our lovely staff to share their favourite books or magazines and why they love them.
Gina, who works at the Campus Library, has chosen The other Bennet sister by Janice Hadlow as her favourite. She explains:
"Deciding my favourite book is almost impossible, but one that I have just finished rereading (for the 3rd time) is The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow - also recently adapted by the BBC, so a good one to read before you watch the series. The Other Bennet Sister reimagines the world of Pride and Prejudice through the eyes of Mary Bennet, the quiet, overlooked middle sister. Lonely and lacking connection, Mary turns to the only place she feels safe; her books. She quickly becomes the most relatable Bennet sister for any book lover, and this book should be on every Austen fan’s list!"
