Library Resource Spotlight: Water Resources Abstracts
This month's library resource spotlight is looking at Water Resources Abstracts!
Water Resources Abstracts summarises the world's technical and scientific literature on water-related topics covering the characteristics, conservation, control, pollution, treatment, use and management of water resources from 1960 to present day. The database, which is also a part of the Environmental Science Index and can be searched as part of the Natural Science Collection, Environmental Science Collection, and the Agricultural and Environmental Science Collection, contains abstracts and citations drawn from thousands of peer-reviewed journals, trade titles, conference proceedings, dissertations, and other varied content types.
Users can search the database using the basic search functionality, where searches can be performed using preferred search terms, whilst the advanced search functionality allows users to filter their search results by source type, document type, language, and publication date as well as perform more complex searches using preferred search terms.
The database also has several thesauri available that users can use, including the Environmental Science Thesaurus, Life Sciences Thesaurus, Technology Thesaurus, and the Taxonomic Terms Thesaurus, which is the Latin names of organisms' vocabulary. Users can use the thesauri by searching for a term using the search box or browsing for a term using the alpha-numeric contents table, while clicking on a term from the search results will show narrower, broader, and related terms. Please note that some of the thesauri are database-specific and may limit your search results to documents from those databases.
