KIITE Student Education Conference 2020 - Call for Proposals now open

The Keele Institute for Innovation and Teaching Excellence (KIITE) is inviting Calls for Proposals for the Student Education Conference 2020. The theme of the conference, to be held on 29 January, is ‘Sustaining a ‘Healthy’ Curriculum’, and proposals are invited to address the question 'what does it mean to build and sustain a ‘healthy’ curriculum?'
Proposals are invited for 20-minute presentations or 10-minute ‘lightning talks’. KIITE is also inviting proposals for a ‘KIITE Carousel station’ as part of the afternoon conference activities.
Dr Rafe Hallett, Director of KIITE and co-organiser of this year’s conference comments:
“This year we are looking to explore, share best practice and debate what Keele does - and could do - to make its curriculum ‘healthy’ in the broadest sense. The health of a University curriculum can be measured in many ways, from the intrinsic quality of its research-led teaching to the ways in which assessment and feedback is designed to be stimulating and manageable. Increasingly, the ‘health’ of curriculum is also being judged on the framework of support, inclusivity and accessibility that shapes it, and we must also pay laser-sharp attention to the physical and digital spaces that frame and equip the co-curriculum. These elements mould the way we behave, collaborate and think.”
This year’s Student Education Conference expands on the success of previous Learning and Teaching Conferences, which have been hosted at Keele since 2016. The conference theme has been chosen with Keele’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy (to be launched in January 2020) in mind, and responds to sector-wide interest in what it means to embed wellbeing in the curriculum.
The Call for Proposals is open until 5pm on Wednesday 11 December.
