Biography

Dimitrios research focuses on EU Economics, fiscal and monetary policy effectiveness, and international monetary relations. His research is published in leading academic journals and monographs. Prior to joining Keele, Dimitrios was the Deputy Head in the department of Economics, Policy, and International Business, a large interdisciplinary department, at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School where he made significant contributions in teaching, research, and management since joining in 2003 as Lecturer in Economics and as Senior Lecturer in Economics in 2008.

Dimitrios has been a featured Eurozone commentator with over 100 interviews with UK and international media outlets such as BBC News, BBC World News, BBC Radio5, BBC Radio Manchester, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Stoke, European Radio Network, Radio Boston etc. and his research has been presented in international conferences in the USA, France, UK, and Poland.

Dimitrios completed his PhD on EU Economics in 2008. The thesis explored theoretical aspects of EU Economics and the intra-EU exchange rate linearities. 

Research and scholarship

My research interests cover EU Economics, fiscal and monetary policy effectiveness, and international monetary relations. I am interested in PhD supervisions in the areas of:

  • European Central Bank and Bank of England monetary policies
  • Fiscal policies in the Eurozone, debts, and deficits
  • Exchange rate policies and global supply chains
  • Reserve currency status of major currencies
  • International monetary relations

Teaching

My teaching philosophy aims at enhancing student in-class learning experience whilst addressing students pedagogical and employability needs. This is primarily achieved via research-led teaching and scaffolding in content delivery. I have a lengthy experience in delivering modules in Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced Macroeconomics, EU Economics and Economic policy.
