Non-subject specific entry requirements

For many of our courses, we are interested in a broad range of qualities, not just your points on entry. We would like to learn more about you, your interests, experience and motivation to study. Whilst we may not always be able to offer you your first choice, we can talk to you about other options and maybe introduce you to some courses you haven't considered before. 

For many of our degree courses we are looking for 64 UCAS tariff points from at least two A Levels or equivalent. All applicants will be required to have GCSE English Language C/4 or equivalent. Some of our courses also require GCSE Mathematics C/4 or equivalent please contact admissions if required.

If you do not meet our entry requirements for our undergraduate degrees, you may be interested in one of our Foundation Year programmes.

All of our undergraduate courses offer a Foundation Year route. It provides an alternative pathway to degree study, helping you gain the confidence and skills needed to succeed at university before progressing onto your chosen course.

International English Language Requirements

Our international English Language requirements are normally IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in all components (for equivalencies see our English Language Test Groups equivalencies). However, for some of our courses, the English Language requirement is higher, e.g. Law, Paramedic Science, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Radiotherapy, Midwifery, Nursing (all routes) and Speech and Language Therapy.

All Law courses: 64 points, GCSE English Language grade 4/C or Group B. Speech and Language Therapy: 120 points, GCSE English Language grade 4/C or Group F.

Students would need to have completed the equivalent of 240 credits of prior learning in an area relevant to the programme to access Level 6. These may include:

  • A relevant HND with a grade of Merit or above.
  • A relevant Foundation degree with a score of 50% or above.
  • Level 5 of a relevant undergraduate degree with a score of 50% or above.
  • An international equivalent to the above.

Applicants whose first language is not English must provide a language test certificate and achieve an IELTS score of 6.0 overall (or equivalent) with no less than 5.5 in any component.

Computing Top-up

Students would need to have completed the equivalent of 240 credits of prior learning in Computer Science or a closely related discipline to access Level 6. These may include:

  • A relevant HND with a grade of Merit or above.
  • A relevant Foundation degree with a score of 50% or above.
  • Level 5 of a relevant undergraduate degree with a score of 50% or above.
  • An international equivalent to the above.

Applicants whose first language is not English must provide a language test certificate and achieve an IELTS score of 6.0 overall (or equivalent) with no less than 5.5 in any component.

Nursing Top-up

Applicants must:

  • Hold a Diploma in Higher Education in a related subject or equivalent.
  • Have current registration with a relevant regulatory body.
  • Be working in practice where pathway-specific care is delivered.

  • Level 5 of a relevant undergraduate degree with a score of 50% or above.
  • An international equivalent to the above.
