Even if you and your housemate(s) aren’t planning to move in on the first day of the tenancy, make sure someone goes along to check for any problems and to check the inventory is correct.
If you don’t tell the landlord of any problems, damaged or missing items at this stage, you could be asked to pay even if you’re not liable.
Make sure that there are instruction manuals and that all of the equipment works correctly.
If the rent doesn’t include utilities, you’ll need to let your provider know. You can change providers so shop around for the best prices using comparison websites. If you do change suppliers, inform your landlord.
