Moving in hooray the day has come!

Even if you and your housemate(s) aren’t planning to move in on the first day of the tenancy, make sure someone goes along to check for any problems and to check the inventory is correct.

If you don’t tell the landlord of any problems, damaged or missing items at this stage, you could be asked to pay even if you’re not liable.

Make sure that there are instruction manuals and that all of the equipment works correctly.

If the rent doesn’t include utilities, you’ll need to let your provider know. You can change providers so shop around for the best prices using comparison websites. If you do change suppliers, inform your landlord.

You’ll need one if you plan to watch live TV whether it’s on a television, laptop, tablet or PC. You can get one for the property or, if you have an individual tenancy agreement, you will need one for your room. Details of costs and how to get a license are at tvlicensing.co.uk

You’ll need to get contents insurance to cover your belongings. Endsleigh specialise in insurance for students or you can check comparison websites.

Don’t forget to help future tenants by updating keelestudentpad with your comments about the property.
