Victoria celebrates becoming third generation of her family to graduate from Keele

Student Victoria Brown has become the third generation in her family to graduate from Keele University.
Victoria, aged 23, has followed in the footsteps of her dad, Jonathan, who graduated from Keele in 1995, and grandparents Paul and Susan, who met each other while studying at Keele and got married after graduating together in 1969.
Victoria, who is from Chorley, in Lancashire, started her studies at Keele in September 2020 with a BSc in Psychology, before going straight into the Master's in Applied Child Psychology which she graduated from this week.
She said she was really happy and proud of herself for following in her family’s footsteps, and hoped they were just as proud of her, adding: "Keele has been a really good university, and I'm really happy I chose this one."
The family's 60-year-long association with Keele started in 1965 when Victoria's future grandparents, Paul Brown and Susan Bradley, arrived to study History with Psychology and English with Politics respectively. Their son, Jonathan – Victoria's dad – then chose to study Chemistry at Keele in the 1990s.
Jonathan, aged 51, who works in nuclear waste management, said: "It’s been amazing, a very proud day for us. It's fantastic that Keele is such a part of our family history as well."
Victoria's grandmother Susan also returned to campus with her family to watch Victoria graduate, and added: "The campus has grown huge, but it's great to see the Chapel and the library, and the Students' Union all look much the same!
"I am proud to have been to Keele in the first place, and thrilled that it's continuing to give people everything that it gave to me, and my biggest achievements are these two (Jonathan and Victoria), so I’m very happy to be here, and very proud of them."
