Two weeks to go

There's now only two weeks to go until you start your university experience at Keele. Make sure that you're up to date with everything that you need to do to prepare for starting university.

If you'll be living on campus, you'll need to make your advance payment of £450 when you receive your accommodation offer (and at least two weeks before your arrival date).

If you have any queries, you can contact Accommodation Services at accommodation@keele.ac.uk

Find out more about how to pay your advance payment

You’ll then be able to pay your accommodation fees by these payment dates.

Keele SU

As a Keele student, you will automatically become a member of Keele Students' Union. You may want to take some time to familiarise yourself with the Keele SU website. You might be particularly interested in the following sections:

Advice and Support at Keele SU (ASK) - The ASK advice service offers independent information, advice and guidance to Keele students, and is based within the Students' Union.

Clubs and Societies - Check out the many sports clubs and societies that you will be able to join when you arrive at Keele.

Events - Keele SU will be holding lots of events and opportunities throughout the year.

You can also download the Keele SU App to buy club and society memberships, event tickets, vote and more! Download here on Apple or Android.

KPA

The Keele Postgraduate Association (KPA) is an additional students’ union at Keele which specialises in representing the interests of postgraduate students. The KPA will also be holding events and opportunities.

Looking to earn money while you study? Our Careers and Employability team can help with part-time work as well as helping you think about your career and graduate skills. Find out more here.

There are some great resources at Keele Careers Online, and lots of upcoming events, including career planning and CV sessions. Just head to the Keele App ‘What’s On’ section to find out more.

We'll send you an email explaining how to enrol online, and all you'll need to do is follow the on-screen instructions.

Online enrolment is a mandatory process before you can begin your course. If you are eligible for home status for student tuition fees, you are not required to enrol in person.

For further guidance on how to enrol online, please visit our ID and enrolment web page for undergraduates and postgraduates.

It can take a least a week from enrolment for your maintenance allowance from Student Finance to be paid into your bank account, and so you should make sure that you have enough money available to cover your living costs in the first week or so. For example, you may need money for food, travel, household goods and joining societies.

If you experience any issues with Student Finance and would like support, please get in touch with our Financial Support Team at student.services@keele.ac.uk so that they can help you.

For more information, please visit our money and finance web pages

International Students

If you're an international student, we recommend that you arrange to bring with you around £400 GBP in cash, or on an internationally accepted ATM bank card.

We offer a whole host of additional opportunities to help you develop your skills and expertise while you're a Keele student. It's natural to have questions about how to manage your studies, so take a look at our resources to help you settle into University life, including how to organise, plan and complete your work. Whether you want to develop your academic skills, digital skills or career, we're here to provide you with the support you need.

If you’d like to order items before you arrive you can kit yourself out for uni through our friends at either Chaffinch or UniKitOut

You can order bedding, kitchen, bathroom kits and more, plus save 10% with discount code KEELE10 if you decide to order anything through UniKitOut.

The Great Donate is a student-led scheme which sells used, but in good condition, pots, pans, plates, cutlery, stationery, clothes hangers etc.

It's green, it's cheap, it raises funds for student sustainability projects - and it's one less thing to bring with you!

A Great Donate stall will be on campus the week commencing Monday 22nd January in Union Square (in front of the Students' Union).

Look back at the previous countdown pages to check that you haven't missed any steps along the way. For example, you won't be able to enrol until we have been able to check your ID and you need to apply for a parking permit if you intend to use a car to get to campus for your lectures.

Browse through the resources available online to help you with your transition to University. In the weeks leading up to starting, it's natural to feel a little nervous and unsure of what's to come. If you're worried about something in particular, get in touch with the Student Services team who will be able to discuss this with you.

Finally, make sure that you have everything prepared to start University. If you'll be moving onto campus, make sure that you've arranged your transport and have a plan of how to transport your belongings.

If you’re an international student, you can apply online for your Welcome Buddy.

Please remember that we offer new international students a free airport transfer Meet & Greet Service to campus - find out more about it here.

Make sure you have downloaded the Keele App onto your device, or are accessing it regularly via a web browser - just go to app.keele.ac.uk - to view events taking place on campus.
