Keele University has launched a suite of new engineering degrees, as the University expands into a new subject area.
Paying homage to the West Midlands’ engineering, manufacturing, and industrial heritage and strengths, the new courses offer students a range of engineering specialisms to prepare them for the modern engineering landscape and a variety of applications.
The courses, which are expected to have their first intake in September 2026, will include:
Each course has been designed to offer students not only the practical skills needed for each specialism, but also the professional attributes needed for career-ready graduates.
Students will have a high degree of flexibility in their courses, by exploring general engineering throughout the first year, before having the option to choose or switch between named specialisms from the second year onwards.
Students will also have the chance to graduate with either a Bachelor’s degree (BEng) or continue to Master’s level (MEng).
Professor Mark Ormerod OBE, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost at Keele University said: “The launch of Engineering at Keele is a significant milestone for the University that we’re very excited about as a comprehensive dual excellence research and teaching University. Keele has undergone strong growth in recent years, including expansion into new portfolio areas.
“Our new Engineering provision will add to our strong growth, attracting students from across the UK and from around the world, as well as expanding our research and innovation to directly grow the local economy and to continue to grow our societal impact.
“Our region is renowned for its strengths in manufacturing, engineering and advanced materials, and our new engineering degree programmes and research and innovation will ensure that the region can sustain and build on these strengths, including in green, low carbon energy and digital technology, attracting and developing graduate talent and skills and knowledge that will thrive in the future engineering workplace."
