Keele has been ranked the No.1 university in the West Midlands for Biology in a new national ranking.
The Daily Mail University Guide 2026 has seen Biology at Keele ranked No.1 in the region, based on a range of metrics including student experience, research quality, and teaching excellence.
Keele students in the School of Life Sciences benefit from modern, well-equipped teaching facilities and laboratories, and teaching from research-active lecturers working on issues of global importance like food security and infectious disease control.
These rankings continue a streak of positive accolades for Keele courses this year, including 15 Keele subjects being ranked in the Top 10 in England in the latest National Student Survey earlier in the summer.
Professor Pip Beard, Head of the School of Life Sciences at Keele, said: “I am delighted with this recognition of excellence for our Biology programme. The number 1 ranking is consistent with the feedback we receive from our students and from our external assessment processes. Both of these highlight the high quality of the teaching, the dedication of the teaching staff, and our focus on developing skills linked to employer requirements.”
