Biography

Shona is an experienced counsellor, supervisor and trainer. She has a private counselling and supervision practice and works for a small charity where she works with clients who have suffered childhood sexual abuse. Shona is a person-centred/humanistic trained counsellor and psychotherapist; has trained as a Relate relationship counsellor and an EMDR practitioner.

Research and scholarship

My particular areas of interest are; the therapeutic relationship and working at relational depth in psychotherapy together with the therapeutic use of self and vicarious traumatisation.

Module leader – Integration in Counselling.

Shona has a special interest in exploring the concept and experience of Relational Depth in counselling and psychotherapy; in working with mindfulness and self-compassion and with mortality. After being involved in a Collective Biography looking at vulnerability she has a passionate interest in auto-ethnography and its place in qualitative research in MSc programmes.
