Biography

Dr Hayward graduated from Nottingham Medical School in 1975, working in a hospital for some years before becoming a GP in 1982.  Since leaving medical school, Dr Hayward completed an MA in 1990 and a PhD in 1998, both from Keele University. Richard came to Keele in 2008, whilst continuing as a GP in a practice in Newcastle-under-Lyme and is currently a NIHR GP Clinical Lecturer.  

Research and scholarship

Dr Hayward's research at Keele is pursued in the Arthritis UK Primary Care Centre within the Research Institute for Primary Care and Health Sciences.

Teaching

Medical students, F2 grade doctors and GP registrars in-practice, medical students in the Arthritis UK Primary Care Centre and mentoring of MMedSci and medical students.
