Biography

I obtained a BSc.(Hons) in Molecular and Cellular Biology from University of Aberdeen in 2003 after which I undertook a PhD from University of York. Developing a keen interest in cell and cancer biology I started my post-doctoral training in Cardiff University and eventually moving to University of Manchester. During this time I had been actively involved in practical class and small group teaching. In 2014 I joined Keele School of Medicine to be part of the Medical Science Team and be involved in full time teaching.

Research and scholarship

Since starting my teaching role in Keele I have been engaged in educational research. My main interest lies in exploring ways to make learning interactive and innovative. I have undertaken research on enhancing collaborative learning and currently interested in ways to support students in developing critical thinking skills.

Teaching

I am involved in the delivery of the Phase 1 MBChB programme. I lecture on the cell and cancer biology strand of the course and lead the Health and Disease Unit. My other teaching roles involve acting as a PBL tutor, running of practical classes. I also co-jointly lead the Professional Development Programme.
