Biography

I am a Lecturer in Health Informatics at Keele University and an honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester, having been appointed in 2015. My research interests are in statistical and machine learning modelling of large-scale databases, with special attention to applications in health and bioinformatics.

In 2008, I was awarded with a PhD in Computer Science from the Technical University of Catalonia, Spain, being Bayesian modelling of multivariate time series the main topic of my thesis. Since then, and before joining Keele, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher, firstly at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1 year), and then, at the University of Manchester (5 years), being involved in several research projects in statistical machine learning and Bayesian methods with applications in neuroimaging, public health and bioinformatics.

Research and scholarship

ISTM Research Theme: Health Service Research Unit

My main areas of research are:

- Statistical machine learning methods

- Bayesian modelling

- Large-scale dataset analysis, focussing on public health and bioinformatics data.

I am a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, a member of the International Society of Bayesian Analysis, and a member of the IEEE Medical Data Analysis Task Force of the Computational Intelligence Society.
