Research and scholarship

Dr Kwok's main research interests are in cardiovascular epidemiology, interventional cardiology and cardiovascular pharmacology. His research has two arms: systematic reviews and analysis of observational data.

In terms of his systematic review work, Dr Kwok is interested in topics that are relevant to the public such as the impact of bariatric surgery, vegetarian diet, chocolate consumption and exercise on cardiovascular disease and more specialised topics in percutaneous coronary intervention such as the effects of major bleeding and transfusion.

For his statistical analysis of observational data, Dr Kwok has analysed datasets such as the Myocardial Infarction National Audit Project looking at the effect of ago on troponin and left ventricular function and the British Cardiovascular Interventional Society database looking at the effects of access site choice and complications such as stroke. In addition, he has experience working with EPIC-Norfolk on a variety of areas such as chocolate consumption, anticholinergic burden, measures of obesity and cardiovascular disease.

Dr Kwok is interested in training researchers who are interested in cardiovascular research as well as collaborations with active researchers. Please contact him by email if you are interested.

Dr Kwok also serves as an Associate Editor for BMC Pharmacology and Toxicology since 2012.
