Biography

Chris studies for a BSc in Mathematics at Keele University, before going on to complete an MSc in Statistics at Lancaster University in 2017. Since then, he has worked as a full-time doctoral researcher at Keele, funded by an NIHR School for Primary Care Research studentship.

Research and scholarship

For his PhD, Chris is investigating the predictors of long-term steroid use amongst patients with polymyalgia rheumatica. To incorporate changes in patient symptoms over time, this research will combine longitudinal and survival data using a joint modeling approach.

Teaching

I has extensive experience in the field of teaching. I have lectured and taught seminars on a range of topics related to mental health at post-graduate level, and in international courses.

Further information

I consider my greatest contribution throughout my academic and research career is the establishment of Institute for Research & Development (IRD) in Sri Lanka (www.ird.lk) and the Sri Lankan Twin Registry which is a unique resource; one of the few large scale functioning population based registries for twin and genetic research in a low- and middle-income country (LMIC). I also have a international reputation in bioethics.
