Biography

Ashley graduated from Keele University School of Medicine in 2014. During this time he also completed an intercalated Master's degree in Medical Education. Following his graduation, Ashley undertook his foundation and core medical training within the West Midlands. He was awarded a three year NIHR funded Academic Clinical Fellowship in Rheumatology from to 2018 to 2021.

Ashley is currently working towards a PhD after being awarded a Versus Arthritis Clinical Research Fellowship in 2022. He undertakes his rheumatology clinical training at Haywood Hospital, Stoke-on-Trent.

Research and scholarship

Ashley is a member of the Keele osteoporosis research group which is led by Dr Zoe Paskins.

His PhD aims to examine current practice in the identification, investigation and management of osteoporosis in primary care, and the barriers to and facilitators of, implementation of evidence based practice, including the training needs of primary care practitioners.

Teaching

Ashley regularly teaches medical students in clinics, seminars and special study modules.
