    Biography

    Callum first joined the Galizi Lab in 2023 for his undergraduate project, and returned in January 2025 to pursue his MSci dissertation. His research focused on the identification and characterisation of novel regulatory elements for engineering genetic tools aimed at reducing the proportion of malaria transmitting mosquitoes. Since mid 2025, Callum has been working as a Research Technician in our group, supporting ACEME scientists in building research capacity for malaria control in Mali. When he’s not working with insects or molecular assays, Callum can usually be found on the football pitch or cheering on Manchester United as they strive to return to their glory days.
