Introducing the Lindsay Papers from our Special Collections and Archives!
Alexander Dunlop Lindsay, 1st Baron Lindsay of Birker CBE (1879-1952), was a noted political philosopher and the founding Principal of the University College of North Staffordshire (now Keele University) between 1949 to 1952.
Lord Lindsay held various academic posts throughout his life, including Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University between 1935 to1938, and was a prominent figure in the adult education movement.
The Lindsay Papers comprise correspondence, newspaper cuttings, photos, diaries, lectures and printed broadcasts, and were presented to the University by Lord Lindsay’s daughter, Lady Drusilla Scott.
