Hyanji Scaffold: an exchange based programme to enable developing new tissue engineering scaffolds. It aims at transfering technology and knowledge of advanced methods for the biosynthesis of polyalkaonates and for targeted drug delivery.

Training

Staff are mobilized between EU and China to learn complementary skills, setup the process in Europe and China, and eventually transfer technology into industry and healthcare. Training staff in partner institutions is designed in such a way that senior researchers should give short courses related to this project. Junior researchers and exchange staff will learn also from research activities.

Keele and Pisa gain knowledge and skills from Tsinghua about biosynthesis of macromolecules using microorganisms and enzymes, from Sichuan about drug targeting and controlled drug delivery. Sichuan and Tsinghua gain knowledge and skills from Keele about material-cell constructs and tissue engineering, and from Pisa, about polymer processing and modification, as well as functionalization.

Exchange volume

104 person-months from EU to china and 104 from China to EU, 52 from any one partner to the other, over 4 years from 2009.

Exchangee role

Staff move from 3 partners to join their colleagues in the laboratories of the 4 the partner to conduct defined tasks (WP). Defined roles and what expertise moving staff can deliver and what to gain are given below. In WPs details of work that will be conducted by each partner and integrated with other partners and transfer knowledge are given below.
