Books

The library has a healthcare specialist book collection covering medicine, midwifery, nursing and the allied professions.

The library holds titles covering all of medicine, midwifery, nursing and the allied professions. Most of these titles are available for loan. Loan periods will vary depending on the book, and your own entitlements. Items in demand may be recalled, and certain titles will only be offered for a 7-day loan or for reference only. Any loanable book may be reserved. If you can't find the book you want in our collection you can ask us to obtain it from another library for you via our book inter-library loan service.

You can browse and search for books via our online library search catalogue. Here you can view the location and availability of items. Note that the catalogue also includes items at the Campus Library and Health Library at County (PGMC, Stafford), as well as print journals and e-books. We use the Library of Congress classification system to identify items, predominately: class Q Science and class R Medicine.

We have specialist collections: Medical Exam Revision collection, Patient Voices collection, Reading Well collection and NHS ebook collection.

If you feel that any items are needed in our book collection please feel free to suggest any purchases to us. Keele teaching staff should speak to the Keele Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Librarian to discuss their requirements to support their courses, otherwise you can make a suggestion online.
