Fees, costs and funding

The DrPH programme combines doctoral education through Keele University and its West African partners with field placements in public health-related organisations, including international organisations, with a minimum of three months spent in Africa. When planning your studies, you should budget for tuition fees and the additional costs of participating in the programme.

Keele University's standard annual tuition fee for the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) programme is £17,854.

Eligible candidates benefit from a partnership-reduced annual tuition fee of £4,000, representing a saving of approximately 78% compared with Keele University's standard annual fee. The indicative total tuition fee for the three-year programme is £12,000. This offer is exclusive to applicants applying through the Keele University–University of Ibadan–University of Health and Allied Sciences partnership.

Tuition fees do not cover travel, accommodation, living expenses or other costs associated with your residency and field placement.

Exceptional candidates may also be considered for additional scholarships, awarded competitively based on academic excellence, professional achievements, and potential for leadership and impact in the field of public health. Scholarships are limited and subject to eligibility and funding availability.

Additional costs will depend on your location, placement arrangements, and individual circumstances.

Travel and field placement

The programme includes a nine-month residency with a public health-related host organisation, which may be based in West Africa or elsewhere in the world. A minimum of three months must be spent in Africa. You should budget for travel to and from your placement, local transport, and any required travel between countries.

You should also allow for travel associated with scheduled in-person programme activities.

Accommodation and living expenses

If your placement or an in-person programme activity requires you to stay away from home, you will need to meet the cost of accommodation, meals, and other daily expenses. These costs are separate from tuition fees.

English language requirements

Applicants must meet the English language requirements applicable to the programme at Keele University. Evidence that your master’s degree was taught in English will be assessed as part of the admissions process.

If you are required to obtain an English language qualification or take a test, you should budget for any associated fees.
