On Wednesday 5 of December CASIC organised an AHRC funded workshop on embodied digital research methodologies.

A foundation course on Culture and Heritage of Bangladesh was organized at University of Development Alternative (UODA), Dhaka, Bangladesh in August 2018.

This interactive workshop was designed and hosted by the New Vic Borderlines as part of an Arts and Humanities Research Council funded project, Translation and Interpretation Work in Multilingual Business Communities: Roles, Perspectives, Agency which investigates how language and translation matter in international, multilingual contexts.

Food Unwrapped took place at Keele Hall on 9 November as part of the Economic and Social Research Council’s (ESRC) Festival of Social Sciences 2018, a UK wide celebration of public engagement with social science, which included over 300 different events.

On Monday 17 of September, Mathew Johnson Lecturer in Politics in the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion at Lancaster University, joined CASIC members to give a talk.

In January Professor Kelemen travelled to the Philippines as part of the Solace project.

Dr Jose Jowel Canuday, Ateneo de Manila University, the Philippines visited CASIC on 6 June 2018, to give a fascinating talk, titled 'Dancers, Terrorists,and Pirates: Cosmopolitan Sensibilities of a Marginalised World'

On 9-10 May, 2018, a delegation of senior representatives from the IFRC (Geneva) visited Keele University and New Vic Theatre to explore ways of enhancing existing research links between CASIC and the Red Cross.

On the 18 of April CASIC welcomed Professor Ariane Berthoin Antal from WZB Berlin Social Sciences Centre, who gave a fascinating talk titled 'How and why do we enter the world of academia, and when do we feel we can say we are an academic?'

On March 23, 2018, North Staffordshire Community Food Network hosted their inaugural conference at the New Vic Theatre, in Newcastle.

On the 20th of March Dr Helen Millward gave a talk on her paper ‘Catharsis through theatre: creative methods of engagement’.

Keele University has officially launched a new interdisciplinary research project to tackle public health issues in the Philippines.
