Purple Hairstreak Neozephyrus quercus

This is a typical species of oak woodland. It spends the day at the top of oak trees where it gets sustenance from honeydew on the leaves. It rarely comes to the ground but may descend to lower branches where it can be seen better. The first and only record so far was seen on July 20, 2021 by Mark Sutton, whose photograph is below.
