Prunus x yedoensis Awanui

This cherry was selected in New Zealand by Keith Adams in the south of North Island at Taranaki (New Plymouth).

It forms a vigorous spreading tree whose horizontal branches bend down towards the ground. It is floriferous, being covered in soft pink single flowers in early Spring. It is probably the most frequently planted flowering cherry in New Zealand.
