Keele community past and present band together to celebrate university’s impact
Alumni, staff, and friends of Keele University have come together for a celebration of the university’s global impact and its future plans with a marathon fundraising event.
Keele’s first ever Giving Day was held this week to showcase the transformative impact Keele University has had at home and abroad since its founding in 1949, and to raise vital funds to support the university’s future projects and ambitions.
An online fundraising drive has so far raised over £91,000 from generous donors, which will be used to support a number of projects aligned with the university’s Together Fund, which are centred around three strategic themes:
- An outstanding education for all; providing inclusive learning environments and scholarships that transform lives
- Enhancing our beautiful campus; creating spaces that promote sustainability, wellbeing and community
- Delivering research with impact; investing in cutting-edge research that tackles global health, sustainability and inequality.
As well as featuring on a public online Donor Wall thanking supporters who have donated to the cause, alumni were also encouraged to share their own fond memories of Keele on a virtual Memory Wall to help connect with classmates and highlight the global reach of the university’s community.
On campus there were also a number of challenges and activities taking place including sport, poetry, and arts and crafts to encourage the current Keele community to get involved with the celebration.
Lauren Huss, Head of Alumni and Supporter Engagement at Keele, said: “It has been wonderful to see our global Keele community come together with such generosity and enthusiasm. Every gift, every message and every memory shared shows just what a lifelong impact Keele has. We are grateful that so many have chosen to make a donation in support of our Together Fund, which will help ensure we can keep making an impact long into the future.”
The fundraising appeal is still open until 9pm on Wednesday 4th March. To donate, visit https://keeleuniversity.givingday.co.uk/
