Keele in Town hosting Forgiveness Cafe event
The art and psychology of forgiveness will be explored at an upcoming event at Keele in Town, hosted by a national charity and a Keele psychologist.
Dr Masi Noor, an expert in the psychology of forgiveness, is hosting the event, titled The Forgiveness Cafe, in collaboration with the London-based charity The Forgiveness Project, on Saturday 31st January.
The Forgiveness Project creates spaces for people to explore the complexities of forgiveness by collecting and sharing powerful personal stories of harm, conflict, and healing. Their work invites reflection rather than judgement and understanding rather than easy answers.
Drawing on Dr Noor’s research on the topic of forgiveness alongside the expertise of the charity’s Executive Director, Sandra Barefoot, in arts-based practice, restorative dialogue, and storytelling, the “Forgiveness Cafe” event blends scientific insight with human stories. The event offers guests a supportive space to reflect, listen, and, if they wish, explore their own experiences, encouraging dialogue and personal growth.
Dr Noor said: “Forgiveness is often misunderstood as something we should feel, or something that just happens with time. Many of us wait for it. Some of us fear it. Others feel pressured into it.
“At a time when many people feel unheard or divided, the Forgiveness Cafe offers a welcoming space for meaningful conversation, where people can listen, understand each other, and explore forgiveness as part of everyday life.”
The event is free and runs between 11am and 2pm at Keele in Town on Ironmarket, but places are limited. For more information, or to book, visit the event website.
